“After days of labor,
mute in my consternations,
I hear my song at last,
and I sing it. As we sing,
the day turns, the trees move.”
-From I Go Among Trees by Wendell Berry
Many things inspired me to start down this path of composing, but the main reason for continuing to strive towards my dreams and goals is my desire to inspire others the way I was. This poem and its wonderful choral setting by Giselle Wyers is one of those many inspirations. When I heard Wyers’ setting for the first time, I never thought that I would be affected by it so much. It led me down a path of choral singing where I would continue to be inspired by other beautiful music and loving people. I hope that one day, I might also inspire others to start doing something that they love. To continue to strive towards something… That would be a wonderful thing.
